BENCE HARTL WINS THE 2021 MIAMI GUITART FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION

Works have been submitted from 22 different countries to the 2021 Miami International GuitART Festival Composition Competition. After long and thorough delibarations, the judges (Orlando Jacinto Garcia, Carlos Rafael Rivera, Jacob Sudol) announced the winner as follows:

Winner: Bence Hartl (Hungary)
Composition: Variations on a theme of Liszt

Honorable mention: Mauro Godoy Villalobos (Sweden)
Composition: Crepusculo

The winning composition was performed by Dora Cserenyec and recorded by Sandor Arok in 2020 and will be played on the Festival by Fabio Adour. Recordings of the winning compositions can be heard on the website of the festival.

PREMIER OF TRY PISNI BY BENCE HARTL

Bence Hartl's Try Pisni for violin duo premieres on 10th March 2021 at the III. Festival of Young Composers in Szeged, Hungary. The piece will be performed by Zita Giriti and Viktoria Horvath-Toth. The concert includes contemporary pieces by other composers as well (Peter Tornyai, Mate Szigeti, Virag Anna Virag, etc.) and will be online available at:

TRANSPARENT SOUND

The Transparent Sound New Music Festival (Budapest) is happening now - also online. Bence Hartl took part in two segments of the 2021-edition of the contemporary music festival: an online sonic memory game features noises by composers and a collection of music videos (MUVID-19) shows how composers and sound artists audiovisually reflect on the current situation. BENCE HARTL IN THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 1ST CHALKI INTERNATIONAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION

Bence Hartl's piece for solo violin Scherzino Diminuito got into the final round of the 1st Chalki International Composition Competition in Greece. The eight finalists were chosen from 113 composers worldwide. The final concert and results of the competition take place on the 27th of August 2020 on the island of Chalki, Greece. The piece was originally comissioned, performed and recorded by hungarian virtuoso Edua Zadory on his CD Heavy.

TROIS GYMNOPEDIES NOW AVAILABLE AT BERGMANN EDITION

Erik Satie's Trois Gymnopedies have been arranged for flute or Bb-clarinet and guitar by Bence Hartl and published by Bergmann Edition (DK) as a downloadable PDF or a print-on-demand. The beautiful cover graphic was made again by Bence Hartl's longtime visual artist collaborator Jeno  Levay (HU).

BENCE HARTL WINS SECOND PRIZE AT THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL EDISON DENISOV COMPETITION

Bence Hartl's piece 'Fi' for clarinet and piano won 2nd prize at the Fifth International Edison Denisov Competition. (Chairman of jury: Hervé Désarbre, members of jury: Victor Ekimovsky, Yuri Kasparov, Alexei Nadzharov and Vladimir Gorlinsky.) The piece will be premiered by Evgeni Barkhatov (clarinet) and Natalia Cherkasova (piano) on the 19th December in Tomsk, Russia. It just feels great!
